balayage/ombré/sombré
What is Balayage?

“Balayage” is a French hair color technique that means “to sweep”. It is a freehand painting technique without use of foils. This technique creates a softer more natural looking effect then Ombré.

What is “Ombré”?

Ombré is a very popular celebrity hair style that delivers full-on color shading in a gradient from the roots to the end. Typically, the roots have a darker color and the ends take a lighter color. This transition usually begins about halfway through the hair.

What is “Sombré”?

Sombre is a brighter and lighter version of Ombre on all levels. Highlights frame the face and feather off the root for a softer, more seamless blend from dark to light. Sombre blends together higher up the hair strand starting with subtle, soft highlights that blend into the darker base, and gradually melt into lighter ends.

Should I choose Balayage, Ombré or Sombré?

We suggest not getting too caught up in the technique but bring pictures to your consultation and we would be happy to guide you through the process.

Generally, if you are looking for a bolder look, then we recommend you try Ombré. Ombré is great for almost all hair lengths with the exception of very short hair. With longer hair, Ombre is low maintenance as you are able to grow out your roots.

If you would like your highlights to be soft and feminine, we recommend Balayage. Balayage can work for any hair length, but it is best for medium and long hair styles, where the hair falls past the shoulders. This way, the beauty of this coloring technique can be appreciated. To maintain Balayage, we recommend regular color touch-ups.

How much would it cost and how long will it take?

This is a very advanced technique and a specialty to many of our stylists. The cost typically ranges from $350 - $500+ depending on the length/density as well as the desired effect. Your appointment may take 4-5 hours. Be sure to schedule a color consultation prior to scheduling an appointment so we can give you an accurate quote and determine how long to schedule you for.
